1:00 AM – Yellow Warbler have a snack. We see these guys occasionally. Usually it’s the Pine Warbler, or the Yellow-rumped.
More of the Red-winged Blackbirds:
1:00 AM – Some video from the RailCam.
First, a Yellow Warbler. At least, I think that’s what it is. It could be a Goldfinch, according to one expert, but I don’t think so:
Next, a Cardinal. Plenty of those around. This one has the Punk Crest:
Finally, one of the Blue Jays that have returned, now that we have an abundant supply of peanuts available.
2:32 AM – Lots of Doves on the platform feeder recently. They’re getting aggressive with each other, maybe due to overcrowding, or maybe they’re just bad tempered.
Another series of birds drinking. In this case, a couple of Bluebirds, a Yellow Warbler, and our friend the One-eared Squirrel.
1:39 AM – Birds drinking – a Bluebird, Yellow Warbler and Robin.
Typical traffic on the Squirrel Buster. The Purple Finch is pushing everyone around, though he gets some kickback from a Sparrow or two.
First in a series of Bluebirds Behaving Badly. We have a number of these clips of juvenile Bluebirds terrorizing the other birds. In this one, a young Bluebird takes on a Dove twice his size, runs him off, then looks around for more victims.
12:28 AM – We had enough decent videos this week so that once again we’re skipping ‘Retro Sunday’. Instead, here’s a series of birds (and others) at the birdbath. We’re getting a greater variety now that the camera is focused on the water feature. In order of appearance: Brown Thrasher, Purple Finch, Yellow Warbler (I think), a squirrel  and finally, a Raccoon passing through on his way to ravage the mealworm feeder. I’m calling the third one a Yellow Warbler, and not a Goldfinch, because there are no head markings. But I could easily be wrong.
Lots of Bluebirds around lately. I’d still like to get footage of them chasing each other, but that’s not really possible with our cameras and very limited cinematography skill. Here’s one having a suet-snack.
Carolina Chickadee at the Squirrel Buster.
7:46 AM – It’s Retro-Sunday and some Semi-rare birds. These are occasional visitors. We haven’t seen a Yellow Warbler since February 6.
The Northern Mockingbird was last here on April 21:
Ruby Throated Hummingbird, last seen May 3. We haven’t had very good luck with these little ones. We’re hoping for a bigger crowd later this summer.
