1:00 AM – We had some unusual Dove action this morning. First, here’s one ‘displaying’. Perhaps it’s mating season.
Then we have that same Dove discouraging a Squirrel from joining him in the feeding trough.
Finally, we have a brief Dove fight:

1:00 AM – Brown Thrasher and Blue Jay complaining because there are no peanuts on the ledge. These birds are getting too big for they’re bird britches.
Squirrel dinner is interrupted by something.
How many peanuts can one Jay eat? I counted seven.
1:00 AM – The Squirrels have gotten way too comfortable on the deck:
And more:
Here’s a Red-wing knocking peanuts off the rail. Maybe she’s got a partner down below.
1:00 AM – We thought the Red-winged Blackbirds had moved on, but at least a few of them are still here:
A couple of Carolina Wrens:
Squirrel doesn’t seemed bothered by the racket that woodpecker is making. Nothing bothers a squirrel when he’s eating.
1:00 AM – Blue Jays can be pushy, obnoxious birds. The Rail Cafe ran out of peanuts, and this bird is not happy about it.
Where did the peanuts go? This video probably answers the question:
A brief squabble between Red-wings:
1:00 AM – Surprising behavior from the well-behaved Mrs. Cardinal. The Red-wing didn’t know what to do.
The Squirrels have no fear of anyone or anything:
Red-winged Blackbird has a beak like garden shears.
1:00 AM – We have Blue Jays all the time now, after a long stretch where we didn’t see any. Here’s a Jay – as usually stuffing himself:
This squirrel has no shame:
Viewer Discretion Advised! This is graphic video of the recent unfortunate cat incident. The victim this time look like a Tufted Titmouse.
1:00 AM – Blue Jay and Cardinal, both big peanut fans:
This jittery squirrel is upset about something:
Red-winged Blackbirds tearing through the seeds on the platform feeder:
1:00 AM – More Red-wing video, this one of a Red-wing eating and being vigilant at the same time. Always a good idea now that we’re having a plague of cats:
Blue Jays and Mr. Cardinal at the platform feeder. Usually don’t see Jays there:
More Squirrel antics:
1:00 AM – Here’s a Red-winged Blackbird with different markings. We haven’t seen one with a red throat before. I suspect it’s a juvenile male on his way to getting the adult markings, but I couldn’t find anything on the bird websites to verify this:
We really like this squirrel. He’s trying to stare down the camera:
