Sparrow and Dove. Nothing seems to bother those little Sparrows.
1:00 AM – Here’s a small Chipping Sparrow pecking away. In the background you can see Cardinals.
In this cold weather the birds ‘puff up’, creating a layer of insulation air under their feathers.

Lots of action on the Nugget Feeder:
1:00 AM – This Dark-eyed Junco is paying attention to his surroundings. Maybe a cat in the neighborhood, or a gang of male Cardinals.

Variety of birds coming and going around the platform feeder. This winter we’ve been putting out plenty of food, and the bird traffic has really increased.

1:00 AM – Lots of traffic on the deck feeders recently, probably because we loaded the rails and feeders with peanuts. What bird could resist?
Lots of Raccoon traffic, too. One (or more) visited a 9:30 pm, 2:00 am and 3:30 am. During the last visit we were sitting inside, a few feet away. Raccoons didn’t care.
