1:00 AM – It’s not just the Squirrels these days, but also the Raccoons. No one knows why he poked the camera before he laid down:
Usually Chickadees don’t stick around long enough to get good video, but this one is preoccupied with his worm.
It’s not just the Chickadees and the Downy’s that like mealworms. Here’s a big old Red-bellied Woodpecker spearing worms with his big strong beak.

1:00 AM – We see lots of Downy Woodpeckers, but for some reason, not so many Red Bellied Woodpeckers. Here’s one getting some compressed bugs.
This Pine Warbler is another fan of mealworms. But then, who isn’t?
Wren and Woodpecker on the nugget feeder.

1:00 AM – The first video from the Bath Cam shows Mazy the dog having a quick wallow. We’ve got high expectations that we’ll get some different creatures with this camera.
Short clip of Mrs. Cardinal on the Squirrel Buster. We’ve discontinued stocking the platform feeder, and the birds are using the others.
The Red-bellied Woodpecker is now a regular visitor to the mealworm feeder. He’s got a really strong looking beak.

1:00 AM – The Red-bellied Woodpecker is now a regular at the mealworm feeder. In this video he’s clearly enjoying the worms. It occurs to me that the mealworm feeder would be the perfect place for old, worn out woodpeckers, with arthritic beaks.
Brown Thrasher on the platform feeder:
Carolina Wren eating and posing. Note the black cat lying crouched on the path in the background. His yellow eyes are glued to the Wren, and he doesn’t move a muscle.

1:00 AM – Acrobatic Red-bellied Woodpecker on the mealworm feeder. We see him there a lot lately.
This Brown Thrasher – one of our favorites – is feeding, when something catches his attention. Whatever it is, he’s taking it seriously, keeping a close eye on it.
We see the Brown Thrasher on the platform feeder, followed by a Cardinal couple.

1:00 AM – Red-bellied Woodpecker and Chickadee at the worm feeder.
Finch getting a drink. It’s not very exciting, but nothing much is going on around the feeders lately.
And finally, something unexpected:
Friday – 5.11.2018
1:00 AM – A couple of Cardinals on the meal worm feeder. I like to post pictures of the male Cardinals on this feeder, because the green background makes their red feathers even more vivid. This female is fun to watch, because she’s wolfing down worms as fast as she can. Nothing wrong with that, of course. She is a wild animal.
One more from our Indigo Bunting collection. Here are two Buntings at the Squirrel Buster feeder, along with some Finches. There’s only a few more Bunting videos left.
Here’s a procession of birds on the meal worm feeder, starting with the Red Bellied Woodpecker, then two Carolina Chickadees, two Tufted Titmice, a Carolina Wren and another Chickadee. This goes on all day long.

1:00 AM – The Indigo Buntings are beautiful little birds, but they’re not sissies. Here’s one attacking a Purple Finch and his date.
More Bunting Finch conflict. In this one the birds go back and forth, harassing each other. Watch for the Indigo surprise attack on the Finch near the end of the video.
And, for a change from Indigo Buntings, here are a couple of non-Buntings on the platform feeder – a Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Brown Thrasher, one of our favorites.
