1:00 AM – Blue Jay on the platform feeder. This will be one of the last videos from the platform. We’re taking it down, and moving the camera to another feeder. It was attracting pests to the deck. So, no more platform.

One more from the platform – a couple of Doves.

Here’s a female Purple Finch at the Squirrel Buster, taken by the camera just moved from the deck. It’s a little dark, so we may have to relocate again.

1:00 AM – We’ve only had a few ‘daytime’ creatures drink from Mazy’s wallowing pool. Here’s a Dove and a Squirrel. It could be that the pool usually isn’t filled to the brim, as it is in these videos.

Here’s an ordinary Sparrow snacking at the Squirrel Buster. Nothing much happens, but it’s a slow day for bird videos, so here it is.

Mazy trotting down the trail to the watering hole. Sort of trotting.

1:00 AM – This is a rather long video taken with the Nikon camera instead of the Arlo security cams. The quality is better, except for the shaky camera operator (me). We see Finches, Doves, Downy Woodpecker and Cardinals at various feeders around the yard, instead of the platform on the deck. We took that down to try to get rid of the squirrels. The video is over three minutes, so it’s the only one today.

1:00 AM – Here’s some platform feeder drama. We start with a Brown Thrasher running off a Blue Jay. It took just seconds, so it’s shown in slow motion. After the Thrasher loses interest, the Doves move in. Notice the Blue Jay coming back to see if he coast is clear. I used to think Jays were tough and aggressive, but not anymore. Finally, stay tuned, and turn your volume on, to see a Dove swelling his chest to call.

Dark-eyed Junco scratching through the empty husks.

Finally, a Cardinal having breakfast in the dark. The video was taken at 6:41 AM, just before light.

1:00 AM – We’ve got two more cameras working, so we’re able to capture video of the mealworm feeder again. Here’s a random selection of mealworm fans – in order of appearance: Bluebird, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren and Yellow-rumped Warbler.

Normal traffic on the platform feeder. We’ve got a Red-bellied Woodpecker getting some peanuts, some Purple Finches, male and female, and a Dove.
