1:00 AM – Robin ground feeding. Still not the best quality, but a little better.

Mazy descends the path with regal dignity. More or less. We took the pool out of service for a few days, a big disappointment for her. We’ll restore it today or tomorrow. Wallowing in the water is a close second to eating as her favorite activity.

Squabble between a Wren and, I think, a Finch. These things happen in the bird world.

1:00 AM – A Nuthatch and Chickadee on the Squirrel Buster in it’s new location. The Nuthatch is the bird on the right, without the black cap markings covering his eyes.

Most of the traffic at the birdbath these days is Squirrels and Doves. We don’t know where the other birds went, there was a much greater variety last summer. Was it something we said?

We did have a visit from a House Finch on the new Squirrel Buster location. Maybe a Purple Finch. Colors are hard.

1:00 AM – The Trail Cam catches a couple of squirrels on the path. Looks like it could possibly be a Squirrel Courting situation.

Another Goldfinch on the birdbath. They’re still here, even though the Internet says they migrate.

Here’s a female House Finch (or Purple Finch, I’m not sure which), and a couple of Cardinals. (A squirrel tilted the camera early that day. )

1:00 AM – D gave all the feeders a good cleaning. Here’s a couple of birds wondering where all the seed went. A few minutes later, D refilled them, and things were back to normal.

Even better, when the feeders were taken away for cleaning, there was a lot of unhappy and confused birds out there.

The Bluebird is still around. In this one, he’s looking for scraps in the empty mealworm feeder.

1:00 AM – Yesterday we had the female House Finch feeding a young one. Today, we see a male House Finch doing the same.

The domestic House Finch behavior seems to be part of an influx of House Finches. Several of the Finches appear to be young, so I’m speculating that a brood of them left the nest and came to the platform feeder.

Squirrel posing in the platform feeder, like a little rodent fashion model.

1:00 AM – We haven’t seen one of these male House Finches for a while. This one has nice bright red feathers.

More Indigo Buntings, in this case a non-breeding male, then a fully bright blue breeding male, and last probably another breeder.

Finally, a Cardinal couple having dinner, then at the end, sharing.
