Attack on Mr. Cardinal by Mystery Bird:
Thursday – 5.30.2019
1:00 AM – Blue Jay acrobatics – one hits the rail on both claws and bounces over another. In slow-motion. At the end of the clip, we get a bonus squirrel:
Like the video of Bruno and a Towhee from a few days ago, here’s one of a Towhee and Mazy:
Chickadee on the mealworm feeder:
Wednesday – 5.29.2019
1:00 AM – Eastern Towhee feeding – watch of Bruno in the background, making an unscheduled visit.
This one is pretty good – a squirrel tries to move in on a Dove in the feeder, but runs into resistance:
Another video of a Blue Jay vigorously attacking seeds:
Monday – 5.27.2019
1:00 AM – We’re seeing these little Ground Squirrels around the deck, but usually they stick to eating seeds that have fallen out of the feeder. But this one is right there in the middle. Check out his little cheeks, stuffed with seeds.
Mr. Cardinal having a hard peck at the small seeds. He prefers the black oil sunflower seeds, not these little hard ones.
The Eastern Towhee again:
Thursday – 5.16.2019
1:00 AM – We’ve got to move the Squirrel Buster feeder away from the rail. The clever squirrels have got it figured out.
We’re glad the Brown Thrashers are still around:
More Eastern Towhee video:
Monday – 5.13.2019
1:00 AM – Everything is normal at the green platform feeder – all the regulars are there:
Your have to look carefully, but here are two instances of one Carolina Wren attacking another. First time we’ve seen that.
Another video of an Eastern Towhee ‘scratch-dancing’ in the platform feeder:
Monday – 5.6.2019
1:00 AM – We still have a Purple Finch couple living in the yard. We thought they’d all departed for somewhere else, but no, here they are:
The Eastern Towhee can be entertaining to watch:
Sometimes the sun hits the male Cardinal just right, and we can see how really red he is:
Friday – 5.3.2019
1:00 AM – Although we can’t see the cat, it looks like a cat attack to me. This time he/she came from the ground side of the rail, instead of the deck, and almost got that Towhee:
Mrs. Cardinal chewing through some peanuts:
And even more Squirrel antics:
Wednesday – 5.1.2019
1:00 AM – Here’s an unfortunate Squirrel with only half a tail. We speculate that a cat got hold of him, but he managed to get away.
Here’s a nice looking Towhee having lunch:
