1:00 AM – Lots and lots of woodpeckers on the cylinder feeder.
The blue bowl, with feed in it, is attracting a lot of birds, including this Purple Finch.

1:00 AM – Energetic Carolina Wren on the cylinder feeder. These birds are here year-round, and very active in the yard.
A male Downy Woodpecker:
1:00 AM – The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker sticks pretty much to the compressed cylinder feeders. They look very much like the Red-bellied Woodpecker, but the two red patches, on throat and head (for the males), distinguishes them. Also, of course, the yellowish belly.
Here’s a little Downy Woodpecker:
1:00 AM – In the first part of this video, this Carolina Chickadee is enthusiastically eating. In the second part, he’s plucking mealworms out of the feeder and throwing them down to the ground. I don’t think there was a Chickadee down there, so why he’s doing it is a mystery.
Very short video of a Downy Woodpecker on the mealworm feeder:
1;00 AM – This White Breasted Nuthatch likes the compressed mealworms and bugs. That cylinder is popular with a lot of bird.
We’re getting a lot of activity from the Downy Woodpeckers. Haven’t seen any Red Bellied Woodpeckers lately.
1:00 AM – The Downy Woodpeckers are still around, but we don’t see them much on camera.
Another video of the Grosbeaks we saw yesterday:
1:00 AM – We haven’t seen one of these Downy Woodpeckers in a while. I’m sure they’re still out there, but we used to catch them on the ‘Suet Cam’, which is not longer operating.
First time we’ve seen two Finches sharing food.
1:00 AM – A Dove drinking and bathing:
We haven’t seen one of these Downy Woodpeckers for a while. Too bad the video is so poor.
1:00 AM – This is a rather long video taken with the Nikon camera instead of the Arlo security cams. The quality is better, except for the shaky camera operator (me). We see Finches, Doves, Downy Woodpecker and Cardinals at various feeders around the yard, instead of the platform on the deck. We took that down to try to get rid of the squirrels. The video is over three minutes, so it’s the only one today.
1:00 AM – An acrobatic White Breasted Nuthatch on the cylinder feeder.
Downy Woodpecker.
