1:00 AM – These are the last of the Indigo Bunting videos, until next year. In this one there’s a Bunting on the Squirrel Buster feeder, with a Cardinal in the feeder next door.
Another leftover Indigo Bunting video, this one with a Blue Jay on the rail in the background. Probably eating peanuts, a very popular food for birds.
Here’s a Blue Jay drinking. When he finishes, he checks out the rail for nuts, but Food Court management hasn’t put any out yet.
1:00 AM – Follow up to yesterday’s Crows eating peanuts – this one isn’t wasting any time clearing the rail. Once the nuts were gone, so were the Crows.
I think this is more what we had in mind: A wholesome Blue Jay having a snack.
Finches on the birdbath. In their striped suits they look like little Shakespearean court jesters.
1:00 AM – Carolina Wrens on the cylinder feeder. This video was taken with the Nikon Coolpix camera, instead of the Arlo security cams. The difference in quality is obvious, though my shaking camera work doesn’t help. Next time, we’ll use a tripod.
Cardinals, Blue Jays and Finches alternating turns on the platform feeder. It’s nice to see cooperation, but a good bird dustup would have been more interesting.
1:00 AM – We’ve seen the Cardinals do this, but it’s the first time we got video of Blue Jays sharing food. We assume it means the same thing – some kind of courtship or nesting behavior.
4:58 AM – It’s that time of the year again. These Cardinals are sharing food. According to online experts, that’s usually a sign of mating, or having youngsters. It’s been a while since we saw this.
This Blue Jay hung around the platform feeder for a long time for a bird – almost five minutes. This clip starts with a standard view, then accelerates to show several minutes in about 20 seconds. Something different.
