2:29 PM – Here’s a bonus clip. We took out the open platform feeder and put in the Squirrel Buster to discourage the squirrels. They were sitting in the feeder for several hours a day, continually eating the birds seed. Watch what happens with this one realized the game has changed.
3:43 AM – A typical day at the mealworm feeder, birds coming and going. In this case, the Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadee and Bluebird.
We haven’t see these House Finches at the platform feeder for several weeks, though they do show up at the Squirrel Busters.
And here’s the One-eared Squirrel, still alive and foraging.
1:00 AM – Unscheduled Retro Thursday, videos from one year ago today.
Wednesday – 6.14.2018
12:37 AM – We’ve had so many squirrels hogging the feeder that I feel obliged to show a video of one. Here it is, with a special fast action sequence at the end.
The Carolina Wren is shown here in a series of brief visits to the mealworm feeder. Lately, like many other birds, he carries food away with him.
Finally, a male Downy Woodpecker having a go at the suet feeder.
1:00 AM – The Goldfinches are back. In this video we see what’s probably a non-breeding male – no black cap. Later in the clip a breeding male appears.
Here we have a Purple Finch (I think – it looks purple to me) attacking a Goldfinch. Later on a Carolina Chickadee shows up. Typical day on the feeder.
1:00 AM – Here’s a busy Chickadee on the mealworm feeder. Notice how he pulls worms out and drops them to the ground. When he finds one he likes, he flies off with it. Chickadees are picky eaters.
1:00 AM – The first video from the Bath Cam shows Mazy the dog having a quick wallow. We’ve got high expectations that we’ll get some different creatures with this camera.
Short clip of Mrs. Cardinal on the Squirrel Buster. We’ve discontinued stocking the platform feeder, and the birds are using the others.
The Red-bellied Woodpecker is now a regular visitor to the mealworm feeder. He’s got a really strong looking beak.
